NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER
Shotgun Soliloquy is a slow sequence (latin - bolero) for solo trumpet with orchestral (mainly strings) background. It is composed as a film sequence, supporting the traditional Western shotgun hero on the Hollywood screen. After the theme is stated by the solo trumpet, there is a modulating middle section. At the return of the main theme a bolero background is added and there is a full orchestra climax (including a vocalise by the mixed choir). The sequence closed with a decrescendo (morendo - dying away) ending, as our hero rides into the distance to conquer the next widow.
