NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER
Happy Tune is the orchestrated version of a commercial tune done earlier for keyboards and drum computers. It features the electric guitar in the lead (use sound effects on the long held notes at the end of each phrase). The rhythm section (drums with sticks on hi-hat) plays a shuffle rock with 16th triplet feel. The melodic backgrounds are played by either electronic keyboard doubled with flute, or horns doubled by clarinet and celli. There is a harmonic background in the higher strings.
Harmonically, the piece moves quickly through a number of symmetrically related keys (C - Eb - Am).
