NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER
This bolero for fanfare or concert band, entitled Bone in the Barrio features a solo trombone: it plays the main theme and has an ad lib solo in the double time latin middle section (a written-out solo is provided). The introduction and transitions are full of counterpoint for brass and saxophones (no rhythm section). The latin percussion has room for improvisation at the end of the double time section, answering the calls from the full orchestra.
