NOTES FOR THE PERFORMER
Alice in Wonderland is a jazz standard, originating from a Walt Disney production. In this version for jazz big band it features the piano, which plays the first statement of the theme and has an ad lib solo chorus. The second statement of the main theme is for the full band in a delicate tone colour (multi-part close voicing with all the brass in bucket mute and the guitar an octave below the lead trumpet). There are a number of 5-part saxophone phrases, that require technically fairly skilled players. The piece may also be played at lower tempo (medium swing).
